One more day to go before weekend arrives.. Yeah~~~
Today is Thursday. Fast Food day. Ate 2 fast foods today. Subway for lunch and Mac for dinner. Now stomach really bloating like hell. LOL. Haven't been eating these foods for quite a long time. Mama suggested eating Mac for dinner cos there is a promotion currently going on. Buy one EVM or Extra Value Meal and get a free item. Just present the coupon will do. I've no idea how my mama got hold of tt coupons. Real Value for money but at the expense of my health and bloated stomach. blech!
Saw Aaron on the train just when the train was about to reach Tampines. I didn't see him all the while until I turned my head and saw a familiar face. So long nvr see him liaoz. Managed to chat with him for a while. Lihai, he's pursuing a dbl degree in SMU and he's now taking the special semester during the holidays. Perhaps we'll meet up again in one of the soccer sessions in future then.
Glemz. Glemz. Glemz. Yeah! It's time to advertise my Livejournal website
Glemourouz Glemz, which offers a wide variety of ladies products, ranging from gorgeous looking dresses to beauty products. Soon, we'll be launching more products out there for all our customers. It's co-owned by me and my gf. She's now currently the Managing Director and I'm the little poor marketing executive. LOL. Fortunately it's her holidays and she has more time to take care of it. Thanx for the effort! I'll be pushing our business to new heights soon!!!
Went to work as usual today. Come to think of it, I've been traveling on the same path for 4 consecutive months le. Dragging myself from the little town of Tampines to Tanjong Pagar Complex. The sky was dark when I reached Tanjong Pagar then and I thought it was going to rain after days of really hot summer ><. But turned out that it was a false alarm. Crap.
So today is just another crap day. Work and work and work. Managed to ask auntie help me arrange schedule for training to the staff. KT wore the same color as me again. Diaoz. I wonder if he realizes this. Cos it seems that everyday we've been wearing the same colors. Irene is back after suffering from 2 days of food poisoning. Seafood buffet was the cause, she said.
Ate lunch at one of the kopitiams downstairs. I ordered the prawn paste fried chicken and it tasted pretty good with the belachan. The belachan was hot and fragrant and I liked it very much. But this comes with a price - Bad breath. Walao, I was plagued by this bad breath due to the belachan lor. My mouth was so stinky that I couldn't tahan it while working. I tried rinsing my mouth with water and it didn't helped. Though I brought tooth brush and paste in my office, I didn't use it cos' I was abit lazy ;p. Haha.... so I stinked myself with my bad breath for around 3 hours till I reached back home. Listerine became my next best friend and rid all of my bad breath within seconds! Bravo!

Read Dar's blog. She's really working hard to achieve her dreams. Seems that Gd O' jordan is helping her alot :) It's 100% true that you need hard work in order to achieve something. Most of the time you will be able to make it if you endure and never say die. It's true. Look at Thomas Edison, he failed so many times but if not for him we won't be enjoying all the lightings in the dark liaoz. But on top of the things my Dar had said, I personally feel that Luck also plays an important role in being successful. You can be hardworking, but without all that little probability of so called "luck", there will not be success. The bottomline is being hardworking ultimately will lead to success afterall, given that the probability of achieving success is much more higher. But the time of the success depends on the luck that is shining on you. LOL. My Crap theory.
It's good to see Dar, Jordan and the rest of the people working hard to achieve their dreams.... Oh what about me then? Haha... I too also have dreams... Those who are close to me will know what my dreams are... but then it's impossible to realize them cos' basically it's unrealizable!!!! That's why it's called a dream ma!!! Haha (Hint to my dream: Japan) Wahahahha.. ;p
Hmmm... Exactly who is this 陈靓瑄??? I was browsing through my U magazine and 2 things caught my eye - A familiar babe and the chinese name "陈靓瑄". Initially I thought it was a printing error, but after flipping through the pages I finally realised that this Mediacorp's Channel 8 princess had changed her name 4 months ago.

The cover gal of U Magazine
So she does look familiar ain't she??? That's right, One of the 7 princesses in MediaCorp, she's Felicia Chin and has just changed her name 4 months ago. It's a norm nowadays for celebrities to change their name, for the sake of a better career and stardom. But I was wondering why Felicia changed her name. Isn't she enjoying the popularity enough? Or she wants a even better life? Isn't the name "陈凤玲" that has brought to her current status? Why is she changing it to a more harder-to-pronounce name. Btw, it's pronounced as
chen jing xuan, for those who don't know at all. The "靓" is not pronounced as
liang but as jing. It has 2 pronounciations. I still prefer to her ex-name to this new one. 凤玲 sounds nicer and chio-er.
Talking about names. I do have a Chinese name although most people know me by my English name first. Some might even think that I'm a Christian. I'm not! I'm a Buddhist by default. I used the default here cos I'm following my family's religion. To be honest, I don't really believe in any religion. Or perhaps I haven't really found the right one!
Ok.... back to the days when I was young and innocent and pure ^_^, the people around me would wonder what my chinese name was. All my Chinese teachers who had taught me before were left puzzled. Sometimes they found it difficult to pronounce my Chinese name and began addressing me by my English name instead :) Even I find it weird why my Chinese name is like that (so does my brother), but after clarifying with my mama years ago I finally knew the reason. Cos that time there were 2 famous ang moh celebrities and my parents decided to give us these 2 names. So easy and simple to call. I wonder if they felt that we would be famous like those 2 someday. I would rather not as one of them was involved in a child harassment thing. I wouldn't want that to happen to me either. >< What about our chinese names then? In order not to give the wrong name, my parents decided to use a direct translation because they believed that giving a improper chinese name will affect a person's life forever. And hence they did not take any chances and used the direct translation as our chinese names.
In fact, my chinese name is not totally a direct translation from my english name. It sounds similar but the direct translation wasn't used cos it was considered an unlucky word. So a pseudo name or in fact a similar sound like name was used. My chinese name is machiam a chinese homonym. LOL.
Every chinese name has a special meaning and sometimes it really portrays the way how a person's character is like. Ha... I sounded quite boliao today talking a whole lot crap about chinese names. But it's something worth to think about if you haven't done so.
That's all for today's post.
That's right... it's the month of May liaoz... so fast nearing the half mark of 2008. Last week was so short due to Labour Day. Speaking about Labour Day, it was the day that I finally had the chance to use my bdae present. :). Yup, my present for bdae (which was a few months ago) was actually a pair of BroadWay Beng 3 tickets. N guess who's the one who bought them? Check out her blog n u'll know it! ^_^. In fact this was our first time watching a comedy play in the NLB. We didn't managed to catch the earlier 2 episodes of Bengz and we didn't realise that Broadway Beng has already released its third show. Yea... "3" is a good sign for this show and for us since it symbolises the 3 sticks of incenses during praying! LOL. I don't think there will be a Broadway Beng 4 le since it would be hard to talk about the number "4" ROFL.
This show is a must see and I highly recommend it for those who decide to change their Ang Moh taste to a funny comedy cum play with a tinge of Hokkien. Fair enough, there's a lot of Hokkien language + singing in this show, and some of the parts were really funny. Lucky for the 2 of us we were able to understand the rough and crude Hokkien jokes. Like the Robin Man or "Man Bird", try translating that in Hokkien and you will get what i mean LOL.

So we spent our Labour Day with the Ah Beng from Broadway Newton! LOL
On saturday, I went out with Dar and we shopped at Bugis. This shopping Queen is not 浪得虚名. We visited one shop after one shop and hunted for Dar's things. In the end, Dar bought a black wrist beads, one cool watch and a really nice blouse. Also saw Irene in Bugis Street as well. She was shopping as well. Talked for abit before we continued our separate shopping paths.
After that, we took a bus to PS and dined in Carl's Junior. I had eaten this consecutive for 2 days as I had eaten with the poly interns on the day before. But I promised Dar I would bring her to this place to eat. We ordered 2 large Chicken burgers and filled ourselves with the unlimited free flow of drinks.
Ok... So far so "boring" to you readers but exciting to the 2 of us.... LOL... As usual, we proceeded to the StarLight Factory arcade on the top level of PS. Played a couple of arcade games together and the UFO catcher. There was this 七仔 UFO catcher and I tried very hard to catch it for my Dar. Thought I would catch for her this time, but guess what? Dar actually caught 七仔 herself with only 2 dollars!!! -__-" It was a big shock to me as Dar managed to catch it with ease while previously I was desperately donating my $1-s away to catch it. YEA! Anyway, congrats to Dar for catching the cute 七仔 with no sweat! Guess she has also helped me to save my money ^_^

~Dar with our 七仔~
~七仔 seems sad LOL~Ok... Shall stop writing le... Cos it's getting late. Kinda hate the blogger composer mode cos it's super unfriendly when it comes to managing pictures! Haha... will find a better blogging tool aid soon!
Yep... that's right... what a short week! Though the week isn't through, but I can sense that the days past by so fast since there's Labour Day and Friday is the Port Tour.
On Tuesday, I finally had the chance to present in front of all the Big Shots during the IT Management Meeting. Was slightly nervous in the beginning cos' this was the first time that I ever has presented in such a big group alone. So right after lunch, I prepared myself for the presentation: Making last minute notes to my slips of speech, relieving myself as many times as I could and constantly reminded myself that I must be confident. Thanks to Dar and all my poly intern frds who gave me their full support.
So the meeting started around 3plus in the noon. I was called after the first item (My presentation was placed 2nd) had finished. Went into the room and my manager began introducing me to the rest of the Big Shots and I began the presentation.
Overall, neither did I fare too good nor bad. I think my presentation was so-so. Despite my small nervousity which resulted in some stuttering, I managed to finish it w/o committing the major mistakes. I felt that I could do better in future presentation, perhaps maybe in the areas of maintaining eye contact plus speaking more fluently. At first I thought the Q & A session was going to be an easy one, since during the flow of the presentation there wasn't much major questions raised. Then, a big shot questioned me about my interview samples as he felt that I did not provide a realistic or concrete representation on the process of choosing the interviewees. He mentioned about statistical data, the sampling distribution, confidence intervals blah blah blah... very mathematical... which was totally different from the simple statistical data that I've presented. I was rather dumbfounded at first and started to defend myself abit. But the same questions rebounded back. Luckily, the Biggest Shot and the rest of the management helped me to and tried to defend my point. This attack and defend situation lasted for quite a while and I seemed to be in the midst of a crossfire. So in fact, the rest of the management found it ok with my simple data except for this Big Shot. I've heard that he is one of those who likes to ask difficult questions to determine the confidence of the presenter. To my surprise so far, he is known to be good to his employees and generally likes to hunt for talented employees. Back to the point regarding the sampling distribution thingy, it really didn't occur to me at all that I have to put in all these data. It's an undeniable fact that statistics play an important role in supporting arguments and facts but I felt that there were constraints to actually provide such detailed data for my presentation. Instead I would prefer to highlight my points in a simpler form, so that everybody could understand as long as it doesn't sound totally ridiculous.
After the whole presentation, the biggest shot shared with us some of his ideas and views on my presentation. He seemed satisfied with my observations and I felt that he was encouraging. I was also satisfied(including my manager) with my performance but I felt that I have alot to improve on. I'm still far from being a good presenter. Nevertheless, this really provides me an opportunity to gain some experience. No matter in what we do, even if it's right or wrong, it's the learning that counts. :)
In the evening, I met Dar in school after my work. She had her Final paper and marked the end of her education life. Yea! Hope she will score with rocketing results in her final semester! Feel so happy for her and I'm going to have another tiring year of university life to endure... Haiz. We went back to my home and had dinner prepared by mama. This basically sums up the activities in Tuesday.
Wednesday just ended a few hours ago. Met up Leng Tris Tat QQ Dar to watch movie together. We watched the "Forbidden KingDom" which starred Jet Li, Jackie Chan, 2 beautiful oriental babes and an Ang Moh. This show, should only be recommended to a person who 1) enjoys watching chinese Kung-fu movies with English Talking characters, 2) is an Ang Moh with a passion for Chinese-KungFu, 3) Like Chinese translated into Ang Moh Proverbs and not vice versa, 4) A Jackie Chan and Jet Li supporter. Haha... I still feel that Chinese KungFu shows shouldn't include Ang Moh conversations. Some proverbs sounded so weird in Ang Moh.
I'm also quite tired to write anything le. So most probably I'll be blogging tmr if I have the time.
^_^
Saturday: Met Dar at Kovan interchange for lunch rite after her stats paper. One more paper to go before she is officially freed from school life!!! Yea!!! Luckily for Dar, she managed to finish most of the questions even though there were some really tough ones (it's virtually impossible to finish every qns in a uni exam!) Saw her cheat sheet she had with her, n you know what, she really managed to squeeze every single bits of info into that A4 paper. Ten columns with each tiny letter and equation filling up the columns so neatly and closely until there's no room to squeeze in anymore. A magnificent piece of art. I'm really pei fu with Dar.
So we had our lunch at the Kovan hawker. This place is filled with delicious food, from the famous chicken rice to the piping hot peanut pancake. So far I feel that this is one of the best place to find cheap and yummy food. Ordered the laksa(For Dar) and bak chok mee teng (For me) complemented by 2 big glasses of sugarcane juice with lemon. Yummilicious!!!
Oh yea... in case I forget... I'm going to write this anyway... somebody actually blamed me for causing her to sweat so much while we were eating our food *Humph* She even complained that she started sweating alot after we got together!!! This complain really came as a sudden stab to me man... I must admit that I sweat alot most of the time (now i'm writing and sweating at the same time x_X ) but it's the weather's fault! Not me!!! Recently I can feel that the earth is experiencing really bad global warming... the sweltering weather sometimes can be so intolerable that gives me real bad headaches.
After lunch, we went to the most "Heartland" place of Singapore - Heartland Mall to digest our food. The mall was pretty crowded in the noon and we walked about looking at clothes and shoes. Too bad, the magic shop was closed down. I was even thinking buying some magic stuff to bluff more xiao mei mei then (LOL)
Headed to Compass Point as both of us realised that it was still early then. Did some window shopping and we found ourselves buying packets of Japanese tidbits from Cold Storage sale section in the middle of the basement. We bought a big packet of Wasabe nuts, Thin edition chocolate Pocky sticks, cheese biscuits. Also bought the instant Taiwan mee sua.
What's more, both of us managed to buy the handphone "Bao" (blue for me and pink for her) strap for ourselves. Dar had always wanted to put on a couple hp strap, especially after she switched to her new Nokia phone ^_^. In fact, we have been searching for it for quite a while but didn't managed to find it until we saw this little cute thing near the Sengkang interchange.
Went back to Dar's home to watch the Big match between Man U and Chelsea. Damn. Lost my money on it. Luckily, Dar also lost too... wahahaha.. The stupid referee actaully gave Chelsea the penalty for Carrick's ball to hand. Till now I still think it's not a handball. If not for that stupid penalty I could've won lor.
Ok la... I guess I shall stop here liaoz. Cos the weather's too F^_^king HOT!!!! I'm going to take a bath now and indulge myself in the air con in my mama's room :)
